Hello, my name is Olivia Roberts. I am the Resolution Magician. My job is to show people how to make illnesses disappear. Today, I am going to talk about re-training your bladder.
At one time or another in our lives, you may experience 'bladder urgency' where you keep on getting a message from your bladder to tell you to spend a penny. Fear not! You can soon retrain it. There are a number of techniques that can help you; here is an easy one for you to try.
When your system is working properly, the first signal happens when your bladder is half full. Yes, only half-full! And then, even if you haven't been to the loo, the signal goes out. The next signal means 3/4 full and the next signal is 'almost full'. And still, after a few moments, the signals stop.
How can you retrain your bladder? Practice these 3 steps until you have a completely normal bladder:-
- At the first signal, say to your bladder, "thank you very much, I will go to the loo later". Then you must sit or stand perfectly still and wait for the signal to go out. It will, trust me. Then carry on about your business.
- When the next signal appears, say "thank you very much, I will go a bit later". Then stay still, until the signal goes out.
- When the third signal comes, please don't start to run. Say "thank you very much. I will go in a minute". Then stay still until the signal goes out. It still. Trust me. Then serenely walk to the loo.
Whether your bladder has been upset after an operation or by years of being spoilt, you can start now to re-train your bladder. If you would like any help with this, or any illness, do get in touch.
