June never went on holiday. She rarely went anywhere, because she was afraid.
Like many people, she didn't like to talk about her problem, it was 'an embarrassing problem'. How could she tell other people that she might not be able to get to the toilet in time? What would happen if she didn't make it?

June had diarrhoea most days. Not every day, especially if she had no reason to leave the house, but any time that she had to go out, it would start. June tried to work out why she was like this. If she was at home, she was fine. The moment she went out, she would begin to feel a slight discomfort in her abdomen, and she knew that within a few moments, she would have to find a loo - urgently.

This is the horror and misery of I.B.S. - Irritable Bowel Syndrome. June wouldn't go on holiday because there would be times when she would have to stand in a queue, and times when she wouldn't be able to leave her seat on the 'plane. Days out were a nightmare because June had to plan each day around the availability of public toilets.

And so, June's family were different. Dad took the children out for days and for holidays. Mum stayed home. Mum had given up her job because she had been so embarrassed at having to spend so long in the bathroom every day. And now June was just a Mum at home, missing out on many wonderful experiences that she should have shared with her children.

But one day, June began to change things around. She began to use a new system to change the sequences that were leading to her unwanted reaction. And slowly she found that she had less and less reaction, until the reaction stopped.
